The manufacturer also claims if you leave it out for an extended period of time, the compound will dry out. If my experiment with the ball is any indication, at least that claim is true. However, I can't imagine the coating lasting for any significant period of time. It cracks and flakes too easily.
Is Floam Safe?
The manufacturer says it is safe. I'm not a scientist so I can't speak to the accuracy of that claim. I can say, however, that I would never allow it in my grandson's hands again.
Floam is supposedly water-soluble. According to the manufacturer it will wash off and out of most washable surfaces. That, in my opinion, is just not true. It never came out of my grandson's clothes, even though I followed the manufacturer's recommended procedures. Nor did the color come off the surfaces that the Floam touched. I could fade the color, but a small residual amount of it remained no matter what.
Under no circumstances do you want to get this product on fine upholstery fabrics or carpeting. Chances are, if you do, you will have to live with it forever.
How Much Does Floam Cost?
While the price of this product has come down, it is too expensive at any price. Actually, it is too expensive even if they gave it away.
Verdict
The manufacturers of this product should be ashamed of themselves. This product is messy, damaging to anything that comes in contact with it, and far too high-priced. As far as I can tell, almost none of it's manufacturer's claims hold up, which leaves me wondering: Why bother with it at all?
I could never in good conscience recommend Floam for any child. It is a gigantic rip off! This one gets 0 out of 10 stars. I’d give it negative stars if I could.
