Inside Approach Golf Training Aid
The Inside Approach is a golf training aid that has been advertised heavily on The Golf Channel.
The infomercial includes the product's inventor, golf instructor Jim Sowerine, along with Jack Nicklaus who endorses the Inside Approach. A purchase of the training aid comes with an instructional video that also include Sowerine and Nicklaus.
The aim of the Inside Approach is to help golfers overcome an "over the top" swing, the type of swing that produces the dreaded slice. The Inside Approach attempts to do this by providing a barrier, literally, to an "over the top" swing.
If a golfer comes over the top on his or her downswing, the foam-encased arm that protrudes backward on the Inside Approach gets in the way. The golfer, in fact, will hit it, sending it flying.
Almost by instinct, a golfer will begin to correct his swing path in response to hitting the foam arm. That's the strong suit of the Inside Approach - it provides immediate, and quite obvious, evidence of a poor golf swing.
Many recreational golfers are plagued by the slice. When we say "over the top" swing, we mean that at the top of a golfer's swing, the golfer's hands will move outward (away from the body), and as the hands bring the club down, they approach the ball from the outside-in (cutting across the face of the ball and imparting sidespin, which leads to the slice).
Professional golfers all do it exactly the opposite. They bring the clubface to the ball from the inside-out, imparting the opposite spin in order to make the ball draw, which adds distance and control.
The Inside Approach is a very simple product that is easy to use and that is very effective at getting a golfer away from an outside-in, or over-the-top, swing.
We believe that any golfer using the Inside Approach on a regular basis will be able to cure the "over the top" swing flaw and play better golf.
